The HBS 900 system is a production plant of medium capacity for the refinement of cutting and forming tools as well as wear parts made of tungsten carbide or steel by means of hard material coatings based on metal nitrides and metal carbides. Typical coating systems are TiN, TiAlN, TiCN and CrN. These coatings can be deposited as single coating as well as in combination as multilayers. As coating methods, the arc evaporation and/or the magnetron sputtering are used. As a supplement to that, the deposition of hard carbon as friction-reducing cover coating by means of plasma CVD is applicable.
