Thereby solar energy is especially demanded because the sun is shining steadily every day and will supply our planet with light and energy another million years. |

That is why solar energy is a safe bank, which becomes more and more important in times of short and expensive primary products.
Roth & Rau was founded already in 1990 as a company for surface coating processes. For almost 10 years we are operating in the division of photovoltaic and belong to the worldwide leading providers of production equipment for the manufacturing of crystalline solar cells. Numerous renowned cell manufacturers are among our clients.
Apart from our plasma- and ion beam technology division systems for antireflective coating of solar cells on basis of silicon wafers form the biggest part of the production. These coating systems do not only produce the blue colour of the solar cells but raise as well the efficiency of each cell about 1%.

The antireflective coat coated on by the silicon nitride coating system (short: SiNA) prevents the immediate reflection of the sun light so that it can enter into the cell to be transformed into electric energy.
It is the aim of Roth & Rau AG to improve the development of new technologies to reduce the prices for solar power.

In the foreseeable future the power we are given by the sun shall be sold at the same price than conventionally produced power. |
This is the reason why Roth & Rau AG also offers complete turnkey solar cell manufacturing lines on the highest technological level. These are of special interest to newcomers to the cell manufacturing.
Next to the production facilities in Hohenstein-Ernstthal which were opened in November 2007 and visibly enlarged in 2008, the Roth & Rau AG as a group has grown enormously.

Due to new subsidiaries it is now possible for us to cover more than 65% of the entire value added chain of a complete production line with own products and service. |
Therewith a big part of the increase of efficiency of the solar cells lies in our own hands and the way to grid-parity will largely be co-determined by Roth & Rau AG.
